First Lady Connie E. Bush is the daughter of Katherine and William McClendon.  She was born in Dublin, Georgia.  She is the third oldest of seven children.  First Lady Bush has three sisters (Dorothy, Patricia and Denise), and three brothers (William, Emery and Michael).  At a very young age, her family moved from Dublin, Georgia, to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where her father took a job as a U.S. postal worker and Sears employed her mother.  They placed their membership at Hayden Street C.O.G.I.C. under Supt. John T. Dupree, and were faithful members of the church.

First Lady Bush graduated from Central High School.  She was the president of the future business leaders of America, and a member of the student government.  After graduation, she enrolled at International Business College to pursue a business degree.  She also attended St. Francis College and I.P.F.W. while pursuing her business degree.

First Lady Bush accepted the Lord into her life at a young age.  She became a member of the choir and also served as one of the secretaries of the church.  She worked with Mother Stella Dupree, who helped her develop as a lead singer for the choir.  She became acquainted with her husband, Pastor Lester Bush, in 1977.  They were engaged, and then married in February of 1978.  She is the mother of three children, Tranell, Jason and Leslie.

In 1990, First Lady Bush was appointed to serve on the Church Mothers Board by Bishop Dupree.  Even though she was one of the younger mothers on the board, Bishop Dupree felt that her spiritual maturity qualified her for the position.  Today, First Lady Bush continues to serve on the Church Mother’s Board.  She also teaches the women’s class of the Sunday School Dept. and the Prayer and Bible band.  Her love for the church and the work of the Lord are evident in her willingness to build the kingdom of God.  Remember to keep this servant of God in your prayers.  The Dupree Memorial family.
